Diabetes Patients Have Higher Risk Of Cardiovascular Disease And Heart Failure

People who have diabetes are at a higher risk of heart attack, say experts. Experts recommend regular health checkups and lifestyle changes to avoid this situation. About 6.99 crore people in India have diabetes and it is at number 10 in the countries suffering from the disease in the world. In addition, 3.65 crore people are suffering from prediabetic conditions.





Dr. RN Kalra Cardiologist, CEO of Kalra Hospital, explains, "Diabetes causes blood vessel damage, which increases the risk of cardiovascular disease in the patient. Therefore, it is advised that patients with diabetes should get their heart disease risk checked and routine checkups should be done like heart attack patients do.





On the other hand, endocrinologist Dr. Ajay Kumar Ajmani of BLK Superspeciality Hospital says that studies have proved that patients with diabetes are at risk of heart disease at a young age. He explains, 'A new study has also revealed that people whose diabetes is not detected are at greater risk of a heart attack. Therefore, this risk can be avoided by routine checkups.





Gynecologist doctor Archana Dhawan Bajaj explains that in pregnant women, diabetes can cause many problems such as heart defect, genital urinary defect. Sometimes it can even destroy the fetus. She says that there is a risk of heart failure in the Sevier case. Doctors recommend to change lifestyle in such conditions, walk briskly at least 30 minutes and 5 days of the week, take a healthy diet and quit smoking and drinking.
